Hi, I'm setting up steel to simulate a motor.
I use M15_26G steel and change the core loss model to electrical steel and composition to Lamination.
Since this material is not a new material, I will use the given properties as they are, but I wonder if the Lamination is applied correctly.
I wonder if the settings are correct even if I do not insert core loss vs frequency data.
Also, I wonder if the lamination thickness is set automatically. If so, how can I check it?
Any suggestions are highly appreciatedÂ

Hi wonseiii99,
If the existing material data indicates that its composition solid, you can not simply change the composition to lamination and expect all the properties will match for lamination.
As electrical steel properties are highly dependent on manufacturing and thickness, you need to get the data for that particular lamination thickness either from the manufacturer you are sourcing it or from a reliable source. The user is responsible for verifying whether the martial properties data is correct.
You can clone the existing martial and use that as a template to enter the custom data. Once you have the loss vs frequency data, enter it in the martial definition.
Since the loss data is specific to the lamination thickness. it will take care of the lamination thickness and entering the stacking factor takes care of the amount of steel in the sator or rotor.

please refer Maxwell help for additional details regarding material definition.Regards,
