Static structural into another static structural?

      Hello everyone,

Is it possible to do a static structural analysis and bring the result as a pre stres state into another static structural?

Because I have a problem where I impose a displacement on a body part in a first substep, in the second substep I need to impose a rotation on another body part that is no longer parallel to an axis and I don't know how to do it. Having a state instead of pre-stress already defined would be much easier.

Thanks in advance to those who will take the time to advise me.

      Hi Alberto,

This is not possible to do. However, if you want to transfer the stress condition from one static structural to another, you can do it by using INISTATE. Please follow the below discussion for that.

      Thanks,

      Ankush

I thank you for your reply.

Maybe there is an easier solution before going to the INSTATE command for my problem.

As you can see in the image below I would insert the tool on the left inside the pipe, and then later, once it is inside, lock the tip and rotate the tool to check the twist. The problem is locking the tip, I've tried creating a coordinate system with an axis as parallel as possible to the end of the pipe and locking the rotations around that axis but it doesn't work. As soon as the third substep starts, the solution does not converge. Do you have any advice on how to solve this problem?

      Thanks,

      Alberto

      Hi Alberto,

I think Bill has already recommended certain things to you in the below post.

      /forum/forums/topic/boundary-conditions-in-a-non-linear-and-multi-step-simulation/

It is hard to know the actual cause of convergence without seeing the model.

      Thanks,

      Ankush
