Start saving fluent transient data after some timesteps

      Hi,

I am running a transient simulation on Ansys Fluent. Due to less storage capacity, I want to save *.cas and *.dat files after skipping the initial time step.

I want to save only 2 full teme period simulations. How could I do it without stopping the simulation in between?

      I don't understand.

      OK.

I am simulating a fan for 10 revolutions with 360-time steps per revolution. I  want to save *.cas and*.dat files after 5 revolutions (1800 time steps) and keep saving for 3 full revolutions (until 8th revolution), i.e. data should be saved from 1801 time-step to 2880th time-step.

Without stopping it can be made using journal. Start recording the journal, set saving frequency for example every 10 step, start your simulation and run it until 10 time steps. Then set saving frequency every 1 time step and run your sumulation for 1 time step. Now close the journal recording. Open it in notepad, change 10 in saving frequency to 1800 and 10 from number of time steps to 1800. Now change 1 from another line containing the number of time steps to 2880. Close and save the file in the notepad. Now read initial cas and dat, and read the journal. Simualtion will start saving the cas and dat from the time step 1800 every 1 time step and stop the calculations reaching time step no. 2880.

Yes best to steer that via Journal File as Jakub highlighted.

what about through "execute commands" option? I don't know it.

won't help here: he want to start saving after certain time. So basically a journal file or scheme procedure which checks the time and then start autosaving.

Another workaround is to use the "Automatically Initialize and Modify Case": start as usual add the modification and then continue. That is it.
