SubscriberWhere and how can I file improvement suggestions as a customer?
Dear Madam or Sir,
I would like to suggest an improvement regarding the interaction between following 2 settings
- Mesh - Sizing - Use Adaptive Sizing: "Yes" VS "No"
- Mesh - Sizing - Definition - Type: "Sphere of influence".
When "Use Adaptive Sizing" is set to "No" - what other engineers and I prefer - Spheres of Influence (Sizing) do mesh all regions (bodies, faces) inside the sphere. While when "Use Adaptive Sizing" is set to "Yes" Spheres of Influence do mesh specifically selected regions only (e. g. faces).
Could you please implement this also for the case of when „Use Adaptive Sizing" is set to "No"?
This would be a great improvement, because I find setting "Use Adaptive Sizing" to "No" preferable, since I have the perception to have a better mesh control and an overall better mesh. But at the same time, I do not want the Sphere of Influence to mesh all the regions inside the sphere but the selected faces only. I do not need the whole body inside the sphere to be meshed. This leads to way too many elements and a waste of computation resources and time.
I would be very glad if you accepted this request and could implement this in future releases.
Kind regards.

SubscriberHello Aniket,
I am using Mechanical Pro 2020 R1.
I do not think it is a bug:
"If the Sphere of Influence is scoped to a body or vertex, the Sphere of Influence affects the entire body regardless of sizing options being used. If the Sphere of Influence is scoped to a face or edge and Use Adaptive Sizing is set to Yes, the Sphere of Influence only affects the face(s) or edge(s) that are scoped to the control and the transition away from those entities. If the Sphere of Influence is scoped to a face or edge and any other sizing option is used, the Sphere of Influence will affect the whole body (not just scoped face(s) or edge(s))."

Forum ModeratorYou are right this is documented so not a bug for sure. If you have Mechanical Pro license, can you please open a Service Request on customer portal and I can give you the Enhancement request number there, as this forum is intended for academia.
