SubscriberWhen I import my kinetics input file and thermodynamic database file, I get the following error:
Error...character array element name too long...C0.30H4.55S2.50O5.75
Is there a way to solve this using an alias or some other means? -

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Shall i assume that you are trying this in Fluent platform ? Have you tried to read the mechanism related files in CHEMKIN platform and is it accepting them w/o error? There are restrictions on the length of species name (refer to Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of CHEMKIN Input manual for reference).Â

SubscriberYes, my question is with regards to Fluent. Yes, the character name is too long as per the error message and the manual. Hence, my question to find out if there is a work around.

Ansys EmployeeHi,Â
have you tried replacing the name with a shorter one and evaluating it in CHEMKIN or Fluent platform ? I'm not sure whether there are other altenrate workarounds, but i can check internally and get backRegards

Ansys EmployeeHi,
There arent alternate options and we need to ensure that the space restrictions for species name needs to be strictly followed. As mentioned earlier, try replcaing the name by a shorter one.
Thanks

SubscriberHi, I have tried replacing the name with a shorter name but the problem is that the formula still exceeds the space alloted for it in Line 1.
Short name    C0.3H4.5S2.50O5.75  L   300.00  2600.00  800.00    1
