SubscriberFor the life of the Spaceclaim product, if you save over a file that is refernced in an assembly with another file, say created on someone elses computer, using the same name, you get an error when loading the assembly, saying that the "file is incorrect. It may have the correct name, but it is not the correct document."
At the most the software should maybe give you an information error saying there has been a change, but should then allow the file to be loaded. Spacecalim is a direct modeller, it shouldn't care if the document is not the correct one.
Please get rid of this restriction, it is highly frustrating, as every time the model doesn't load the referenced file you have to manullay update the assembly to re-reference the exact same file name again, and that file could be refernced in 100s of assemblies. Spacecalim is the only CAD program I know of that that seems to care where/when the file was created.
A work around is to use the use template for new design and have everyone use the same template. This fools Spaceclaim into thinking every file is the correct one, but the issue we have is we have thousands of files that were created before we starting using the template feature.
Please also don't reply suggesting to use Discovery. Discovery is still severally hamstrung for the real CAD work we do so its not an option for us in its current form.
Thanks
