Some basic questions about wave port and boundary condition

      Hello,

I am a newbie in Ansys electronic desktop(HFSS). I have some questions and I would be grateful if you could kindly help me.

      1)      For defining the input and output wave port for a hollow rectangular waveguide with a certain thickness, is it necessary to define an air material at the middle of the hollow waveguide to define the wave port at the input of the air material face? Because I see the wave port can’t be defined just for a hollow rectangular waveguide as you can see below:

      2)      Is it necessary that the wave port be exactly connected to PEC conductors or it can be enough to be tangent to the PEC conductors?

      3)      The default environment material is PEC, How can I change this environment in a different axis to my material?

      4)      If I draw a radiation box or air box around the main structure, is it a region in the environment around the main structure is air, and outside of the air box is again PEC?

      5)      What is the difference between coupled boundary conditions vs primary/secondary boundary conditions?

      6)      Is there any option in HFSS that adds a back cavity for a wave port more convenient? Because in a project I saw a person, did something and a PecCap easily.

      Hello Volter,

As you are a newbie to AEDT(HFSS), I think these courses will help you to understand the simulation process in HFSS and build your understanding of waveguides, wave port, coupled boundaries:

Please go through these courses and let us know if you have any queries unanswered.

      Thanks

      Best regards
