Hello everyone

I am trying to estimate stresses in the beam using Ansys Mechanical, I would like the web perceive only shear stresses, but im struggling with chanching me shell elements to SHELL28. As I know, it may be not enough to just specify an element in 1 line, there may be some other parameters required. Please, help me to estimate these parameters and define them in APDL properly. Thanks!

Hi Vladyslav

Shell28 element type was undocumented at version 17.  The recomended replacement is to use Shell181 (the default linear shell) with orthotropic material properties and to change its keyopt 1 to be 1 to set the stiffness behavior to be membrane.  If you are using a fairly new version of WB Mechanical these are UI options and you should not need a commands object at all.
