SubscriberIf my university has both a research license and an academic license for the same product, how do I select between the two licenses? This relates to autodyne. It is under Mechanical? I see Ansys Academic research mechanical and Ansys Academic Teaching Mechanical and CFD under the License preferences but nothing else that relates to research. Is there a way the license server could be setup with defaults on startup? Thanks

Ansys EmployeeHello rsteele,
While in the User License Preferences, highlight the license you would like to use and then use the arrows on the left
to move the license to the top of the list.
Best,
Geo

SubscriberIs there a way to make the academic version the default across all machines either on client install or a setting on the license server? We have limited Research licenses so I would like the default to be the academic teaching license across all installed machines. Then the researchers could select to move the research license up on a per user basis. Does that make since?

Ansys EmployeeHi rsteele ,
You can set that on the license server machine to apply to all machines using the licenses from this server. One important note is that this setting gets overridden by the User License Preference (if set) on the client machines, so make sure no one sets user license preference to override this.
On the license server machine, launch Server ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility with 'run as administrator' -> Set Site Preferences -> Specify Product Order -> 12.0 and Higher -> Go through all 4 categories and re-order the licenses per your preferences.
Thanks,
Win
