Seeking Guidance on Setting Up Parametric Simulation with ANSYS

      Hello forum members,

      I hope this message finds you well. I am currently working on a project involving ANSYS, and I am in need of some guidance on setting up a parametric simulation. Specifically, I aim to simulate a 3D model of a 10x10mm plate with variable thickness. The simulation will involve applying a transient pressure of 50MPa and should incorporate parametric automation to vary both the plate's thickness and material.

      My ultimate goal is to gather data on plastic deformation at different thicknesses and materials. If anyone has experience with similar simulations or can provide guidance on how to set up the parameters in ANSYS for such a study, I would greatly appreciate your insights.

      Thank you in advance for your assistance!

      Hi Charles,

      If you have access to the Ansys Learning Hub, you can also check the course below:

      Hello Armin and peteroznewman,

      Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for your assistance. Thank you, Armin, and thank you, peroznewman.

      I've gone through the provided link, but unfortunately, I don't have access to the learning hub. In the meantime, I'm eager to learn more, particularly about how to assign "engineering data" materials as parameters. This information is not covered in Peteroznewman's video, and I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on the process.

      My specific goal is to compare the values of flexion and plastic deformation across different materials. If anyone has experience with this aspect and can provide insights or step-by-step guidance, I would greatly appreciate it. Your expertise is invaluable to me as I navigate this learning process.

      Looking forward to your responses and thank you in advance for your time and assistance!

      Instead of individually parameterizing the physical properties (such as Young’s modulus, etc.) of materials, I am curious to know if there’s a possibility of parametrizing the material list itself. This approach could potentially streamline the simulation process by allowing simulations to be performed across a range of materials using a single set of parameters.

      [EDIT] : i think i’ve found, under mechanicalAPDL->geometry-> SYS/corps->properties->materials->affectation

      [EDIT2] : changing material affectation inside parameter produce a : “System.NullReferenceException: La référence d’objet n’est pas définie à une instance d’un objet.”

      Additionally, I am interested in understanding if there are methods or tools available that allow for the parameterization of applied constraints on materials. This could offer a more dynamic way of studying the effects of various constraints on different materials within a simulation environment.

      [EDIT] Found !  constraints applied can be parametrized but not as tabular data, so transient analysis seems to be complicated
