Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on a simulation in ANSYS Static Structural involving a plain pipe with an internal diameter of 290 mm, an outer diameter of 310 mm, and a total length of 1500 mm. The pipe is subjected to an internal pressure of 15 MPa.
While attempting to validate the hoop and axial stresses against Barlow's formula, I've successfully validated the hoop stress. However, I'm struggling with the axial stress, as the results I'm getting are significantly different from the formula's value.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice on where I might be going wrong or how I can better align the axial stress results with the theoretical values.
Thank you in advance for your help! -

Hi,
Can you share the setup, boundary conditions, results and handcalculations snapshot here? It might make it easier for members to comment.
