Scripting in ANSYS Meshing

      Hello,

I am uisng ANSYS 2020 R1. I am trying to create a script in ANSYS Meshing. But appareently, I cannot record what I do  in ANSYS Meshing, save them, and reuse them for other cases. Something like what journals do in Fluent. Please advise, I am new to scripting. If there is no such a helpful feature for recording, can you please introduce a beginner tutorial on how to start, what are the functions and variables?

      Thank you

If I am not mistaken, there used to be a red record bottom here in the older versions.:

Journaling in Mechanical is beta and for that, you need to turn on the "beta options" first from Workbench>Tools>Options>Appearance.

      And then "Journaling" from Workbench>Tools>Options>Mechanical

Thank you for your reply Aniket. I enabled "beta options" but cannot find "Journaling" (there is no "Mechanical") please see the photo, which is highlighted on Meshing, can you please confirm that I should be able to find it at Workbench>Tools>Options>Mechanical?

      Thank you

Oh, it seems you have not installed the Structural module. If it is not much trouble, can you please install it?

Meanwhile, I will check if the same things that automate things in Mechanical work in meshing.

Awesome! I installed Structures and now I can record and run scripts.

But, there is an issue with Insert a feature to the mesh. For example, I insert Inflation, I can see it is recorded in the script. But when I run the script, everything in the main Mesh setting is effective, but the Inflation is not created. the error message I get is:

Script Executed This property is read-only.:line #

where # is the last line.

Thank you in advance. Is there any tutorial on this topic?

Good to know. Please note the feature (recording in the mechanical) is beta, so it is not tested before release, so can have one or many bugs.

Please check the following links for developer resources, if you want to deep dive on the topic please check:

Thank you for your help. I will keep tracking the releases. I hope this bug is fixed, which make the feature much more useful. Thanks again
