Hello everybody,
i'm not sure that i know exactly how rotational velocity works in static simulation. I mean, i know that the model apply centrifugal force at each element and then the resultant stress is calculated, but the displacement that i have in output are the ones caused by rotational velocity?

Hi Samuele,Â
If you try to provide the rotational velocity by right-clicking on the static structural, then this rotational velocity will give the result of the structural effect of a part spinning at constant velocity. you may also see this to use the fixed rotation and see if it would be helpful or not in your case.Â
I have attached the link that you can follow.Â

thanks for the aswer. Ok so on the results i can see the displacement of a component if is rotating at tot rpm right?

Hi Samuele,
Will you please explain to me in detail what are you expecting the impact of rotational velocity in your model? How have you modelled your geometry? Do you want to calculate just an angular displacement due to the rotational velocity or deformation that will develop?Â

Yes the deformation. I mean, if i think at something rotating at certain rotational velocity, the type of analysis in my mind is dynamic, not static. So my question is if for example i have a simple disc on a fixed shaft and the disc is rotating at tot rpm, the diplacement available on the solution is the one due to centrifugal force?

Hi Samuele,Â
For static analysis, applying the rotational velocity will give you the structural effect on the model due to the velocity. This structural effect would be the deformation in the model. The rotational velocity contributes centrifugal force that will develop this structural effect (deformation). if your end goal is to obtain the deformation in the structure due to the rotational velocity then you can use this Rotational velocity. If your end purpose is just the rotational displacement due to the velocity then it doesn't require any FEA calculation. you can use a direct formula to calculate the rotational movement ( in rad or degree) due to the applied rotational velocity.Â

In addition, If you want to see the dynamic behavior of the disc from start to end of the time span, then I suggest you to use Transient Structure module. You can actually see the rotational movement of the disc there.Â
