Response constraint not allowing structural optimization to solve.

Hi I am trying to use topology optimization through workbench to optimize a bracket design, I have created seperate bodies through a CAD software to create the exclusion zonesas ansys does not allow you to customize the thickness, but for some reason when I try to input the response constraint it does not allow me to solve the simulation. Also for objective there is no option for compliance constraint.

I would be grateful if you could help with this.

      Hi,

Please check if the setup of structural optimization is connected with the static structural model's solution.

      Thanks,

      Deepak

Hi Deepak, the layout of the simulation is all good, I ran it with just using the exclusion zone faces at the location of the fixed supports and it was fine however ansys does not allow you to add thickness to exclusion zones on its software so I added them as seperate CAD bodies. The static structural deformation simulations runs fine but for some reason when I try to run topology optimization the resposone constraint still has a question mark by it.

What do you mean by separate CAD bodies? Can you share a rough sketch or model image of the thickness that you are trying to exclude?

The grey body is the design space (DS) and the red body is the exclusion zone (EZ), with the fixed support boundary condition.

Instead of creating two separate CAD geometry try to split the face, to exclude it in exclusion zones.
