SubscriberReview the answer I gave here, which was written from my Structural Mechanics experience. I did some benchmark testing to show that with ANSYS 15.0, there was not much to be gained from a GPU for my Structural models. My understanding is that CFD problems benefit much more from the addition of a GPU, so I would add the best GPU card(s) you can afford. Check the list of certified GPU cards here. The cards are limited by the OS you are running. I expect others may have opinions they will be happy to share.

It all depends on your budget, you can start with an i7 quad core with 16 Gb RAM and do some reasonable simulation with meshes that go up to 1200,000 cells (remember the maximum number of cells you can reaxg in the Academic version is 500,000 regardless of the PC you have) -
