SubscriberHi,
I am currently interested in using ANSYS Discovery for learning and personal projects under the Student license.
However, my laptop does not meet the required hardware specifications, as it does not have a dedicated NVIDIA GPU.
I would like to ask whether it is possible to run ANSYS Discovery in the cloud using the Student license. Specifically, I am wondering if there is any supported way to access the software remotely (for example, via cloud computing or remote desktop environments) so that the GPU requirements can be handled externally.
If this is not supported, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for alternative solutions or workflows that could allow me to use ANSYS Discovery with limited local hardware.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Kind regards

SubscriberHello Ana,
As far as I know cloud capabilities need seperate license and might not be available under student license. But will confirm and get back to you.Â
Although you would still require a dedicated GPU for Discovery other than this as cloud will leverage GPUs only for solving in Discovery.Â
This is minimum Ansys Discovery Hardware Requirements (2026 R1) | Ansys Knowledge

SubscriberHello Devendra,
Could you offer me an alternative? We're competing in the STEM Racing competition (I believe Ansys is a sponsor). We've finished designing our vehicle, but we can't test the aerodynamics because our computer doesn't have the required hardware (what you mentioned about the GPU). Would another tool like Ansys Fluent work? Ideally, it would have to be free for students, like Discovery.
Thank you very much for your response.
Kind Regards
