SubscriberHello, I am having problems with my modeling of a reinforced concrete beam. Enter the properties of steel and concrete, which are modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, density, stress-strain curve, and for concrete, enter tensile pressure failure, which is -3.19 MPa . Load the model but it generates concrete failure with a normal stress of 9.493 Mpa. I don't understand why the failure effort is greater than the entry effort. I tried different meshes and the result does not change. Can you help me. I would be very grateful since it is for my undergraduate thesis.

Ansys EmployeePlease be aware that Tensile Pressure Fialure is not Tensile Stress Failure. It is the Failure by Pressure. The negative sign means the negative pressure, which is Tensile Pressure.Â

Pressure is Hydrostatic Pressure, which is euqal to the sum of three principal stresses divided by 3.Â
If the material in an element is in tension, it is likely that its Pressure is negative. When the negative pressure has reached the pre-defined value, the material in the element fails.
The tensile stress in the element is not necessarily equal to the Tensile Pressure.
