I am a master's student and my project is to analyze the hydrostatic test of a pressure vessel.
I am having some problems in the contact between the body of the pressure vessel and supports.
In the image bellow, it is possible to realize that the pressure vessel is simply supported in the supports, and the supports are fixed in the ground. Everything is modeled as solid.

SubscriberIs the tank just sitting on the supports or is it welded to the supports?nIf it is just sitting on the supports, then use Frictional Contact.nIf it is welded to the supports, then use Bonded Contact.nA welded interface will create higher stresses than frictional contact.nFrictional contact will turn the model into a nonlinear solution and it will be more difficult to get the solution to converge.nOctober 9, 2020 at 1:35 pmdanielengmec

SubscriberHello Peteroznewman,nI simulated as you suggested:n- frictional contact between upper face of supports and body with coefficient equal to 0,1n- fixed support in bottom face of supportsnIt takes one minute to get the solution.nBut I simulated another configuration.n- bonded contact between upper face of supports and bodyn- one support is fixed support and the other is displacement with X and Y free nIt takes 10 seconds to get the solution and the results are very close.nn
