SubscriberIn a CFD–DEM semi-implicit coupled simulation of a V-funnel test for self-compacting concrete, the coarse aggregate particles are passing straight through the funnel walls instead of being confined by the geometry (see attached images). Also the particles appear to be floating around the geometry which is not wanted. This should not happen in the physical test, so it seems to be a coupling or boundary issue. Here, the mortar is phase is considered to be in fluent and the particles in Rocky are representing the gravel.
What are the most common reasons for DEM particles penetrating CFD walls or STL geometry in such simulations, and which settings should be checked first. What could be the possible issues?
