I have been using OpticStudio 2023 R1.03 recently, however it has suddently stopped working. It appears to be silently crashing when trying to run: no error messages come up, it does not appear in task manager, and I cannot access the Licensing Client Settings, either. Clicking on the icon on the desktop, start menu, or running the .exe file result in the blue loading icon to appear for a moment, only to disappear without anything happening afterwards. Everything looks good on the License Management Center, I see no error messages or anything unusual there. The only thing that I have noticed that has changed were Windows updates, e.g. KB5028951 and KB5029244. Things that I have tried but did not work include: restarting the computer, reinstalling OpticStudio, running the prerequisites.exe file, rereading the license manager settings, running OpticStudio as an admin, and running OpticStudio in compatibility mode with Windows 8/7/Vista.Â

Thank you for reaching out to us. I have two suggestions for your issue regarding Zemax Optic Studio Crashing:
- We have an Knowledge base article:Troubleshooting your OpticStudio installation, where in the section "nothing happens when launching OpticStudio", you might find the way to overcome this problem.
- You can also try and update to our latest version OpticStudio 2023 R2.01: OpticStudio Downloads
Regards,
Niki

Hi Niki,
We found the troubleshooting guide, and did not have success with repairing or reinstalling OpticStudio, the C++ redistributables, or the prerequisites.exe file. What ended up working was a full uninstall of OpticStudio, making sure to delete any remaining OpticStudio files left after the uninstall and then reinstalling OpticStudio. Â
