December 1, 2020 at 6:21 amjfonkenSubscriberHi all,nI'm running FSI simulations of abdominal aortic aneurysms using Ansys Mechanical and Fluent. My simulations are quite long, so I decided to create restart points every 5 timesteps. In total, my simulation takes 1200 timesteps, so this results in a huge amount of restart files, which requires a huge amount of memory. Ofcourse, I can also choose to create restart points every 10 or 20 timesteps, but then I might need to redo a part of the simulation if a crash occurs. nTherefore, I was wondering if it's possible to only save the files of the last (or last 5 for example) restart point. In Fluent, I know that you can set a maximum to the number of automatic exports. If the maximum is reached, the first export is deleted before the current export is written out. I was wondering if a similar command is available in System Coupling, but couldn't find it online.nThanks in advance!n

December 1, 2020 at 4:42 pmStephen OrlandoAnsys EmployeeHi,nThis isn't possible yet, but you could run the case from the Command Line Interface (CLI) and use some Python login in the run.py file to delete files as the solution progresses. A tutorial on the CLI is here https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/sysc_tut/sysc_tut_oscplate_cli_fluent.htmlnSteven

December 1, 2020 at 6:45 pmjfonkenSubscriberHi Steve,nThanks for your kind suggestion! I'm using the CLI and I'm familiar with the tutorial. However, I'm not that familiar with Python, so could you please explain how I could use Python commands to delete old restart files while the FSI simulation is running?nThanks in advance.nKind regards,nJudithn
