Node to surface thermal contact

      Hi,

Is nodes to surface thermal contact supported in LS-DYNA. I received a warning:

      *** Warning 20660 (STR+660)
           in definition of contact 1
           Contact must be surface_to_surface
for a thermal problem. This contact
surface will be skipped during the
           thermal calculations.

when I started the simulation. In this simulation, I was modeling the contact between tool and workpiece, where the tool is modeled using FEM, and the workpiece is modeled using SPH.

      Thanks!

      Hello hansenli,

There is the following  information in the LS-DYNA user manual vol I:

If you are able to use one of the supported nodes to surface contact without specifying a node sets, then maybe it could work. Otherwise, I am not sure how you can define a thermal contact between FEM and SPH.

Could you use FEM instead of SPH in this case?

      Reno.
