Hello,
I would like to model the accumulation of rain on an aircraft in flight to determine the water concentration at each point. This will help identify the most optimal locations for installing optical probes.Â
Is this achievable in Ansys Fluent? If so, what methods should be used?
I have conducted some research but haven’t found a concrete answer.
Thank you for your help,
Gaétan

Have a look at DPM (to model the droplets) and wall film models. If you want a quicker result LWF may be a better option for the wall film. Splashing probably won't matter in this scenario so I'd leave that off.Â
Note, as the film models use the wall boundary and don't have a physical thickness you may need to rethink the near wall mesh somewhat. Most aero applications focus (too much) on y+, but here you need to consider whether the film is likely thicker than the near wall cell is high: that makes the mesh y+ focus a little silly...Â
