Mesh the cross section of a beam in ANSYS Mechanical

  In ANSYS Mechanical, the default cross section mesh for beams with circular cross section is 8 divisions along the circumference and 2 divisions along the radius as shown below :

  I assume you are okay using APDL commands In Mechanical. You can insert command object under the line geometry and add the coomands to change the secdata.

  thank you for this information. I have noticed that this works. But why does ANSYS Mechanical not render the new section like APDL does?

  The reason is these commands are executed while solving in background not in GUI.
