SubscriberI modeled multiple pontoons and all of them surface and so many surfaces are made up. When the hydrodynamic diffraction part was solving, I met the error: The total number of External Surface Elements over all structures must not exceed 40000. Revise your Mesh settings, or Add Sizing Controls to Surface Bodies, before proceeding. How can I arrange the mesh settings?

Ansys EmployeeHello, you can amend the element and face size options and let the engine creates the nodes at the water line for you. Regards, Ingrid

SubscriberThe error indicates that the total number of external surface elements in your hydrodynamic model exceeds the allowable limit (40,000 elements). This is common in simulations with multiple structures, such as pontoons, where the mesh is too fine. To resolve this, you can adjust your mesh settings by refining or simplifying the mesh.
If you're familiar with modernizing software, this process shares similarities with tools like the VB6 to C# converter, where the goal is to simplify and optimize legacy systems while maintaining essential functionality. Similarly, in mesh optimization, you aim to reduce unnecessary complexity while preserving accuracy and performance in the simulation.
