Mesh from convergence

      Hi everyone!

Is there any way to obtain the mesh information after performing a convergence study?

For example the size of the elements or the mesh metrics. Because if I go back to the mesh tab, it appears the starting mesh.

      Thanks!

Which solver, and what information are you after?

Sorry, I didn't specify, I am doing static structural analysis using Mechanical and I am learning how the mesh generation works.

Then, I would like to know the size of the elements after the convergence tool re-meshes the model for certain stresses.

Any other information about the quality of the mesh after doing this will be very useful for me! As meshing is my main interest.

Zoom in to the area with elements with the small edge length. You can use the ruler to estimate the edge length or set your filter to nodes and click and control-click to adjacent nodes and the distance will be shown on the bottom edge of the screen.

      Thanks Peter! Very helpuful!

Now, I have two questions about:

      1) do you know if there is a straight forward function to export as a table the characteristic length of the converged mesh?

      2) Using convergence tool, there is a limit of convergence? For example, what if the test does not converge a value, the mesh will continue to reduce the size of the elements until obtain a very small size, which is the limit of this size?

      Thanks!

I don't use the Convergence tool, because I can't save the mesh that it uses in the last model that ran in the series. I prefer to perform the mesh convergence study without the tool.

I think the Convergence tool has two inputs: the required %change and the allowable number of trials. If it fails to get below the %change after the allowable number of trials was reached, it just stops.

Thanks Peter! Yes, as you said it is better to perform the convergence study without the tool.

And yes, the convergence tool has its %change and a limit of 10 loops but if the model does not converge in 10 loops, you can always start from there the convergence again and keep going 10 by 10 trials each time, that was I was wondering if the tool could have another internal limit.

But thanks, the post you share is really helpful!
