Lumped Port Deembed

      Hi All,

I'm simulating a transformer with lumped ports about 10mm long. Without deembed, inductance reads 30 nH. If I enable deembed, inductance decreases all the way to -8 nH.

I don't really understand this overcompensation. User guide says deembed removes parasitic series inductance. Does it also consider factors like mutual inductance?

      Best,

      Yilu

The Lumped Port Deembed function performs correction using a phenomenological approach, so it is not a function that guarantees that the parasitic inductance component will be completely reduced to zero. In some cases, it may reduce the inductance component too much.
We recommend keeping the Lumped Port as short as possible, and normally running the analysis without checking the Deembed function. If the analysis results differ from expectations, we recommend checking the Deembed function and using it as one method of identifying the cause of the difference in analysis results.
