SubscriberHi,
I have recently updated my Lumerical to the 2025 R1.3 version and I am experiencing issues with the Visualizer.
See image below. The image is not responsive and to changing plot's settings.
Note, I am running Lumerical on a Mac through a Windows virtual environment (Parallels). This used to work well with the older version. Problem appeared after installing the latest version.

Ansys EmployeeWe are sorry to hear you are having issues running Lumerical in a VM in MacOS. As mentioned in our KB, we cannot guarantee that our software will continue to work on these virtual machines in MacOS as things change. We will not be able to provide further support.
You can try deleting/resetting the Lumerical product preference.ini files.
- close all running Lumerical applications.
- delete the INI files (except License.ini).
- wait for a few (5-10) minutes.
- open/run a different version of Lumerical.
Always delete the Lumerical product’s preference.ini file before running a different version of Lumerical.

SubscriberHi Lito,
Thank you for your reply. I have downgraded the software to 2024R2.3.
I understand the minority users of Lumerical through Windows VM is not a priority for Ansys, but as I mentioned the Lumerical 2024R2.3 worked fine and without problems. This means that a change during the new version might be causing this.
This can be a quick fix on Ansys side that can accommate Windows VM users.
Thank you.
Giorgos

Ansys Employee@giorgos.georgiou,
This could be an issue on Windows VMs running inside MacOS. We will not be able to confirm or run tests on VMs inside MacOS.
We run tests on Windows virtual machines either on prem or the cloud (AWS and Azure). We cannot reproduce this issue on our Windows VMs. Attaching a screenshot from the simulation "mwp.fsp" from the App Gallery example, Microwire polarizer – Ansys Optics. This was taken from a Windows virtual machine on AWS.
Try to run Lumerical 2025 R1.3 on a machine/VM that is not running inside MacOS or ARM processor. Let us know if you are running into the same issue. Thank you.
