LS-PrePost: Flow through 3D Rectangle Channel including Flap.

      Hi,

I am using LS-PrePost to run a 3D CFD simulation for fluid flow through a rectangular channel with a obstruction in the center, modeled as a 2D plane.

However, I keep getting the Error. See images below.

       "Error 120003 (ICFD+3)

ICFD::ERROR: No volume element was generated. 0"

I tried numerous methods including, meshing the 3D rectangle and flap separately, and using “include” to incorporate flap into the Rectangle geometry.

Duplicate nodes were checked for both mesh geometries.

Does anyone know how I can remove these free edges from the model?

      I greatly appreciate any assistance!

      Hello,

Could you please check this model https://www.dynaexamples.com/icfd/intermediate-examples/Intermediate_fsi_flap ?

What version of LS-Dyna are you using?

      Please let me know,

      Thank you,

      Alex

        Hi Alex,

        Thank you for your reply.

I went through that tutorial and reviewed the k files.

However, my case is different, The rectangle centered within the main fluid domain is a surface (no physical volume) floating slightly off the ground, where as the intermediate_fsi_flap case the thickness of the flap is fixed, I believe.

I tried running a case where the rectangle plane was connect to the floor and meshed them together however I still got the same error.

Also, the version I am using is LS-PREPOST V4.10.3, see image below.

        Thank you for your assistance.
