Hello,Â
Â
I am trying to construct a model with about 3*10^6 element in lsprepost. When I try to copy or do any kind of element editing, the software crashes. Is there any way to solve this?
Â
ThanksÂ

Hello Fady,
Crashing generally happens when solver doesn’t have required amount of memory it needs. A general approximate is around 10 GB of RAM per million DOF’s. For more information on LS-PREPOST memory requirements, this below link might be of help:

Hi Nanda,
I think we're messing up the LS-PrePost with LS-Dyna. The memory requirement you're directing to is for LS-Dyna - the solver, not for LS-PrePost - the pre/post processing software, which was crushing during handling the modeling task.

Hello Tonmoy,
My apologies for the confusion. Let me forward this to respective team. I'm not familiar with LS-PrePost.

No problem. We are interacting on forum. So, sometimes it becomes hard to appreciate things clearly. We really want to thank you for your time and help to guide us here.

Hello Fady and Tonmoy,
I reached out to one colleague, who's more familiar with LSPP. We need more information to debug:
- I read your other discussion, you're using LSPP 4.9 right? Is this on Windows or Linux?
- On Linux, you get a message in the terminal after LSPP crashes, but not on windows. Perhaps that can give us more details on why is it crashing?
- As provided in my initial response, most of the crashing happens because of lack of memory. You've mentioned about 1TB RAM, is this the amount of free available memory or total memory?
- Perhaps deleting the configuration file might help. On windows it is under %AppData%\Roaming\LSTC\LS-PrePost4.10\lsppconf. Launching LSPP again will regenerate new file.
Can you please raise a support case from our customer portal, if this doesn't help. For further debug, we might need to reproduce the issue and see what's causing this behaviour.
Best,
Nanda
