LS-DYNA isotropic porous model with power law

      Dear all,

I was wondering whether there is a way to define an isotropic power-law model using the *ICFD_POROUS_MODEL keyword, as is possible in Fluent, for example.

The current card only seems to offer the Ergun and Darcy–Forchheimer models.

I would appreciate any guidance you could provide on this.

Thank you in advance for your help.

      Best regards,

      Gred

      Hi Gred

As you correct say, I do not think this is possible.

      All the best

      Hi Erko,

      Thank you for your reply.

I was looking for a way to implement a power law behavior through a power-law viscosity model coupled with Darcy's law.

Do you know how the velocity v in Darcy's law is computed when the Forchheimer coefficient is set to zero?

Is it the volumetric average velocity over the entire porous-media volume? Or the area-average velocity at the porous media's inlet ?

      Best regards.

      Hi

I am not a developer in ICFD so would not know.

Perhaps talk to the channel partner/ADDL that supports you , and they can open up a  so called TRR (or perhaps a support ticket) request so my colleagues can try and see if there is a way to do what you want.

      All the best

      Hi Gred

I have spoken to R&D on your behalf and they will look into implementing the power law in the future version.

I will convey this to the channel partner also.

      All the best
