Linear beam and solid beam

      Hello,

how can I do this modeling in ansys?, I want to replace a linear beam in a large part of the solid beam to save calculation time and keep the last part of the solid beam that is of my interest.

      Thanks!

Which Geometry editor are you using?  The names of operations are different in DM than SC.

Did you try creating a beam and a solid in the same file?  I wonder what happens when you try to import that into the Model because when you look at the Geometry cell Properties on Workbench, there is a line called Mixed Import Resolution.  It seems there is no Solid and Line selection.

I decided to make two Mechanical Models, one with a line body, the other with a solid body. You mesh each one individually, then merge those two models into a new Model cell (in a Static Structural system) where you can connect the two meshes, one a beam mesh, the other a solid mesh.

I created a Remote Point on the end of the solid beam. I activated all the DOF on the remote point.

Then I created a Fixed Joint between that point and the vertex on the line body.

I expect there are other ways to accomplish this model, so you might get some other comments.

      Hi Peter

I use DesignModeler, it is possible to change the plane of the cross section? because the centerline of the beam is on the X axis and the solid beam also has the axis on X since the solid is imported from another program.

       Thanks for your time.

      I solved the cross section.

Here is a video which might be useful for connecting a beam to a solid.

Thanks for your help I was able to solve the model with variation of results and with a minimum calculation time.
