We are encountering a strange issue with our licensing.

 

We have a license server / license file with the following definition:

 

SERVER cue-lic-vm-01 DISK_SERIAL_NUM=f852cb72 1055
VENDOR ansyslmd
USE_SERVER

 

Please let us know if you need the entire license file.

 

All of our on-premises clients are able to connect without a problem.

 

Our AWS Workspaces clients connect intermittently after long wait times (10-15 minutes) or fail to connect.

 

On the AWS side we are getting the following error when using lmutil:

lmgrd is not running: License server machine is down or not responding. (-96,7:11001 "WinSock: Host not found (HOST_NOT_FOUND)")

 

We have tried updating the license file with FQDM by adding poly.edu to the server hostname as well as just the IP – they did not work.

 

We hardcoded the vendor port to 2325 and while we can telnet to both ports (1055 and 2325) we still get same error.

 

We would appreciate any help you can provide.

Hello Hani,

From a dos command prompt, try to ping the license server from the AWS machine.
It may be a DNS Issue.

Can you ping the hostname that is in the license file: cue-lic-vm-01

Also, the vendor port should not be set to use 2325. That willl interfere with the Interconnect with older versions, which uses 2325.

Set the vendor port to 1056, if open:

SERVER cue-lic-vm-01 DISK_SERIAL_NUM=f852cb72 1055
VENDOR ansyslmd port=1056
USE_SERVER
