I am having RAM memory related issues while trying to execute a modal-spectral analysis. Using lower order elements or thickening the mesh it is not an option. I "only" have to reduce the RAM requirements of the analysis in 2.6Gb aprox (from 33.5Gb to 31.9) so out-of-core solving is possible (not even thinking about in-core solving).
Its remarkable that I dont have RAM related errors while running structural analysis with the same exact model. Thats why I think there might be an option to reduce analysis RAM requirements for the modal-spectral analysis I am trying to execute. ChatGPT has given me the following solutions:
- Reduce the number of iterations
- Use a more efficient solver method
- Use lower precision settings
- Explore the memory optimization settings
- Reduce the amount data written to output files
- Use solver-specific options to control memory usage
- Run the simulation in batch mode without the graphical interface.
Sincerely, I dont know how to implement any of these option, as I am a relatively new user of Ansys and I am experimenting my first RAM issues. In fact, I dont even know if any of these solutions will be helpful for my problem. I would realy appreciate some advice from more experienced users. Thank you in advance. -

You might try solving non-Distributed (uncheck the Distributed box in Solve Process Settings).
This is a really a hardware resource issue. I would consider increasing the RAM in your machine or obtain one with additional RAM.

I have tried to increase the virtual memory of my laptop, as I have been told that this is a way of increasing the total RAM memory. However, Ansys is clearly not using that extra memory space, as I am recieving exactly the same error. Isn´t it able to use the RAM and scratch memory both at the same time? Do I have to set an specific configuration so Ansys can use the scratch space?

Increasing Virtual Memory (Swap space) does not increase RAM memory.
Please tell us the RAM memory in your computer.
Also, please provide any specific solver memory error messages from the Ansys solver.
