Hello everyone,Â
So, recently i have been trying to create a simple model of plane fuselage using shell and beam elements. I created surface model using NX, imported it to spaceclaim and there i cleaned it and cut it. The issue is that when i try to import it from spaceclaim to mechanical there is a bunch of extra vertices on my edges which leads to poor mesh quality. I created beams using edges of split surface so i feel like it should be matching but if i try share or merge then i get those weird small edges. Any ideas how to fix that?Â
I've tried split edges but it doesnt detect any issues since my geometry is fine and the issue happens after merge. Unluckily virtual topology cant be used on line bodies.Â

Ansys EmployeeUnshare the Shared Topology and redo it. If the beams are still split when you delete the shared topology, delete and re-extract the beams from the edges.
When you connect the beams to the surfaces by Share Topology, can you specify a larger tolerance in the options panel?
Try to make the tolerance larger than the largest distance between the inter-curve points but smaller than the shortest beam length or surface edge for that matter. Experiment with some different values of tolerance.
