Issue with running the LS-DYNA solver on our new computer

      Hi,

We have some issues with running the LS-DYNA solver on our new computer (The license works on the old computer that ran the LS-DYNA solver before, but it is not working on our new computer).

The problem is that the license was successfully imported into our new computer and the server status is 'running', see the following pictures.

However, when I ran the solver, there was an error that said 'License Problem: Local License: / Error Bad License Keys'. Do you know what the problem is and how do I solve the problem?

      Thank you,

      Jackie

      Hello Jackie,

Have you done a license server change for the LSTC license? The LSTC license manager is installed on only 1 machine; the license server. Then, the client machines (where the LS-DYNA solver runs) have to point to the LSTC license server using the following 2 environment variables:

      LSTC_LICESE=network

      LSTC_LICENSE_SERVER=hostname_or_ip_address_of_license_server

You can set the environment variables using the program manager.

Let me know how it goes.

      Reno.

      Hello Jackie,

We recommend using LS-RUN to run LS-DYNA. The program manager is no longer being maintained.

LS-RUN comes with the installation of Ansys:

Or, you can download it as stand alone here:

      https://ftp.lstc.com/anonymous/outgoing/lsprepost/LS-Run/

Here is a video tutorial on how to use LS-RUN:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymkTJCefm30

So, you can have LS-RUN on all the client machines to run the LS-DYNA solver. You can download any solver you want here:

      https://ftp.lstc.com/user/download_page.html

      username: user

      password: computer

Let me know how it goes.

      Hello Jackie,

On the license server, we recommend installing the latest version of the LSTC license manager:

      https://ftp.lstc.com/user/Download-Instructions/Job-License-Manager/

      username: user

      password: computer

Let me know how it goes.

      Hi Reno,

Thank you for the reply, this might be the problem I encountered.

Can you elaborate more on how to use the 2 environment variables?

How should I do the adjustments based on the 2 environment variables? Should I do on the LS-RUN?

      Thank you,

      Jackie

      Hello Jackie,

On the client machine, with LS-RUN, you can go to the License menu and set the following:

      1. Click on the License menu in LS-RUN.
      2. Set the license type to LSTC_LM or Network (if you are using the standalone version).
      3. Set the Server hostname to the hostname or IP address of the license server.
      4. Make sure the Set Env. check box is checked. This will set the environment variables automatically.

Let me know how it goes.

      Reno.
