SubscriberHello, I'm currently trying to learn OptiSLang. However, I'm wondering if it's possible to transfer a parametric design created in CATIA to ANSYS. For small parts, I can use ANSYS SpaceClaim or Discovery, but creating complex parts from scratch parametrically in these programs would be quite challenging. Also, I may need to re-parameterize the existing parts entirely within ANSYS, which would be time-consuming.

Ansys EmployeeHi, I see in general 2 options. A) CAD via Bidirectional CAD Connection in Discovery and B) optiSLang CATIA node.
A) You can use the Bi-directional interface from Discovery to update the geometry in CATIA. In optiSLang you can use the Discovery node. This will open Discovery that controls CAITA and updates the geometry in CATIA and brings it back to Discovery and optiSLang.
More details, see e.g. here https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v242/en/ref_cad/cadOverview.htmlB) Here you use the CATIA node in optiSLang to update the geometry. For using the CATIA node, you can find more information here: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v242/en/opti_ug/opti_api_catia.html?q=catia
Please be aware of the supported Version for the CATIA node: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v242/en/opti_api/opti_inst_lic_supported_intversions.html
I would start with A) and in case of issues consider option B).

SubscriberHello, thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.
However, I've been trying to solve this since yesterday, but I still haven't managed to make it work. I've even come across people who somehow succeeded in importing this as early as 2013.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
I attempted to open the file with Ansys Discovery. However, the import section shown in Ansys' official tutorial videos does not appear on my ansys, as you can see in the attached image.
At Ansys Official Video, there is an option as Import Options, which does not appear for me.
I also tried loading the geometry directly as a product in Workbench. Even though I selected the parameters in the properties section (and saved all my geometry parameters with the prefix of DS in CATIA), the model still doesn't show any parameter options for the geometry no matter how many times I refresh it.
If you are able to help, I would be truly grateful. It would solve a major problem for me.
Kind regards,
