Recently I am encountering a question in using fluent to simulate a tubulent flow, the turbulence model is STANDARD KE, y+=30, the first inflation layer thickness 0.3mm is calculated. However, the maximum dimension of my geom is 5.5mm, in order to keep a high mesh quality, I have to make the maximum volume element size under 0.2mm³, obviously, now the first inflation thickness is inconflict with the element volume size, so what should I do to solve this problem? What will happen if I abandonded the inflation layer when I generating the mesh?

Forum ModeratorYou don't have to use inflation, however you do have to resolve the flow. Not using inflation will tend to put the cell count up, but given the dimensions a good (ie very refined) mesh may be sufficient. Try it and see what the cell count, mesh resolution & y+ value comes out at.Â
