Hi,

My institute server uses Ansys Workbench 2021 R2. I want to install the same student version on my laptop so that I can prepare and run cases on the server.

We only provide Student for current and two previous releases, as 25R2 is current the oldest version is now 24R2.

I see, that on the Site there are only the above mentioned 3 Versions available, but I wanted to ask, if its possible, to get a license of an older Version (2023 R2).
The problem with the newer Version is, that i have to cowork with my company, which is using Ansys 2023 R2. So if I use Ansys 2025 for my Master Thesis work, it will not be possible to open my files on the older Versions am i right?

There is no older Student build available. The licence system is bundled with the install; with "full" versions there is a separate system so people run a range of builds. 

If you're working with a company as part of your Masters you'll need to connect to the campus licence. Student is for learning, so whilst we're usually fairly relaxed for project work; if you're sharing the results with a sponsor it's a little different. You're correct in that 2025 files may not open on 2023. Have a chat with your project supervisor and if there's any doubt please talk to the licence manager and Ansys contact.
