I’m experiencing a recurring issue while trying to install the ANSYS Student version. Each time the installer reaches the “Initializing installation of prerequisites” stage, it opens an error window labeled “Critical Error” while still at 0%. This error window becomes unresponsive, forcing me to close the installer. As a result, the installation process doesn’t progress.

I have tried repeating the process numerous times, but the same issue occurs each time. I attempted to run the installer on a lower version of Windows, and it somehow bypassed this step, reaching about 90% of the installation. However, the same “Critical Error” window appeared again, causing it to become unresponsive.

Could anyone please help me with this issue? I am in urgent need of assistance.

When you run the setup.exe, did you right-click and choose : run as administrator
Also, check virus protecion is not blocking anything

im also facing the same issue with ansys student version (2025 R2), ive tried clearing the appdata (Windows+R) , and i made sure that i ran the setup.exe file always as administrator. Still its showing the same ‘critical failure error’ everytime, and upon closing that window its showing ‘instcore.exe is not reacting’. I’ve been trying to tackle this error for the last 3 days. Could anyone please help me with this issue? Im also attaching the screenshots for further reference.

Please post in a new thread for attention: that gets flagged to the Install team as opposed to George and myself. I don't know (I just drive the software) and George is working in a different team.
