Incorrect results

      Hello everyone,

I was doing a validation study of an impact scenario on a bi-layer armor. For a particular velocity, my results match those reported in the paper, but for other velocities, my results do not match the reported value (not even within 10%).

What could be the possible error in my simulation or how can i improve the simulation? The friction and contact between plates are not mentioned in the paper.

Please help me figure out the problem.

      Regards

Hi Raghav, I am thinking we will need more information to fully troubleshoot things like this.  Otherwise, I can guess.   For example, what is your material model for the bilayer armour and how does it account for different strain rates?

Based on the info provided where impact velocity is the difference maker, this is a meaingful guess at best.   Otherwise, I think it's good to try to dissect the problem down to each varaibles and components and check them one by one against both the paper (if info is presented) as well as your understanding of the physics.

Hi Dennis, the materials used are alumina and aluminium and material models used are JH2 and Johnson Cook, respectively.

What should be most significant parameters to target for initial attempts? Also why is it that for one parameter, the results are closer, but for others, its not the case.
