October 2, 2019 at 5:54 pmlcoolidg SubscriberICEM CFD 2019 R2 Help Fails and generates the following error:
 Â
Couldn't change working directory to "~": No such files of directory

October 2, 2019 at 9:24 pmtsiriaks Ansys EmployeeCould you post the screenshot of this ?
It sounds like you point to the local install of help documentations. Did you install help locally (this is separate install than the main software) ?
Otherwise, you can access the online help (need portal login)Â https://ansyshelp.ansys.com

October 2, 2019 at 11:27 pmlcoolidg SubscriberHere's a screen shot of the error. I expected clicking on help within ICEM to take me to the on line documentation like workbench does in this installation. I did not do a separate install of ICEM locally. Thanks

October 7, 2019 at 10:42 pmtsiriaks Ansys EmployeeIf you open CMD Prompt, then issue the following command
 "%icemcfd_root194%..commonfileshelpHelpViewerANSYSHelpConfigurationTool.exe"
is it set to online help or local help ?
-
October 8, 2019 at 5:36 pmlcoolidg SubscriberIt is set to online help. This was the default, I did not change it.
I wanted to emphasize that within ICEM CFD if you select help is locks up the session and your have to close the program. So what ever is coded behind the help button needs to be fixed. Help from workbench functions normally going to web help.
 Thanks for your help.

October 11, 2019 at 4:09 pmtsiriaks Ansys EmployeeI can't reproduce the issue.
What if you do File -> Change Working Directory -> Then, specify C:Temp and try launching Help again ?

October 18, 2019 at 9:25 pmtsiriaks Ansys EmployeeHmm, not sure why it's trying to change working directory to ~
Can you post the output of the 'set' command (no quote ' ')Â from the CMD Prompt ?

October 21, 2019 at 5:08 pmtsiriaks Ansys EmployeeThe issue is with your HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH , which are combined to point to U:
Can you change this to be a local directory ?
If you want to test first if it really helps, you can open CMD Prompt, then issue the following commands
 set HOMEDRIVE=C:
 set HOMEPATH=temp
 "%awp_root194%icemcfdwin64_amdbinicemcfd.bat"
 then, launch Help from here.

October 21, 2019 at 5:53 pmlcoolidg Subscribertsiriaks:
 set HOMEDRIVE=C:
 set HOMEPATH=temp
that solved the problem so I edited the "%awp_root194%icemcfdwin64_amdbinicemcfd.bat" and added the above two lines to the bat file.
good job you can close this post as solved
 thanks
