SubscriberHow can I define a material with mass density that vary with position in ls-dyna? Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeSee *LOAD_DENSITY_DEPTH. If that doesn't suffice, elaborate on your application and intent. -

SubscriberThanks, but the keyword *LOAD_DENSITY_DEPTH can only define the density vary with depth. can i define the density vary with the position more complex. For example, density varies with both the coordinates x, y, and z.

Ansys EmployeeBy using *INITIAL_STRESS_SOLID, you can set the initial state of each element. That would include stresses and optionally material history variables and/or initial volume (IVEFLG=1). I haven't tested this approach but perhaps the initial density can be manipulated via the initial volume.
