SubscriberHI,
I want to calculate the absorption in some volume and poynting vector in spcific positons. is there any function or codes that I can use for these purpose?

Ansys EmployeeThe frequency-domain monitor has built-in Poynting vector of Px,Py and Pz. you can specify the monitor to the specific location.
For absorption, if you want the total ratio, you can use 1-R-T where R is the reflection, and T is the transmission. If you want to calculate loss in a specific volume, you can use analysis group :

SubscriberSorry, I want to use stackrt script to do this. For FDTD, it is simple to put the monitor there, but for stackrt, it only give me the R and T. even STACK simulator, it seems not possible.
Two more questions: 1. for STACK, how can I use script to control the options in GUI; 2 for stackrt, how to get the index vs position?
thanks

Ansys Employeestackfields can give you E and H fields: https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034406294 Later we may add more features such as absorption at each layer. Please vote here https://ix.lumerical.com/ideas/LUM-I-1344
I have not found examples using script to set the STACK in GUI. you already know the material properties and the position of each layer before the simulation since this is what you set. Unlike FDTD, it uses analytical solution so it does not have mesh for the calculation, except for output purpose.
