How can I use the Bessel Gaussian beam source in fdtd?

Lumerical only has Gaussian source, not Bessel Gaussian source. How to implement Bessel Gaussian source?

      Hi,

Thanks for the question. The available built-in sources are Gaussian, plane wave, and Cauchy/Lorentzian, so you will probably have to build a custom source to do this. One approach would be to define custom spatial field profile as a Matlab dataset and import it. Or, if you have a model of your beam from Zemax, you can import it a Zemax ZBF file. Please see Import source - Simulation object – Ansys Optics for more information on importing custom sources.

Alternatively, if you know how to decompose your Bessel Gaussian source into plane waves, another approach would be to use a summation of plane wave sources to build up the custom source.

      Best,

      Anna
