Hello, I've been trying to an analyze a simple I beam using Static Structural analysis. When I click on the mesh it says an error occurred and that it's in C:Users\mahesh\AppData\Local\Temp\AnsysWBDumpFile.dmp . My laptop has an Nvidia 4050 laptop GPU and Core 9 Intel processor with 32 Gb RAM.
Any help on how to solve this issue is much appreciated....

Hello mhar,
Does this affect several project files or a specific one?
If it is a simple model you can always try re-creating it from scratch in a new project file to see if the issue is resolved.
A common troubleshooting procedure that is known to solve several incidental errors is to reset Ansys program settings by clearing the AppData folder.
The required steps for this purpose are described below:
- Close Workbench and its applications.
- Type %appdata% in Windows Explorer's Address bar (path) to access AppData / Roaming.
- Open the Ansys folder.
- Find the folder vXXY, where XXY is the release you are using. For example, if it's 2023R1, then the folder name should be v231.
- Rename the folder as vXXY_old, or similar. This is used to store the old settings in case you need to refer to them.
- Create an empty folder named vXXY.
- Open vXXY_old and copy the MigratePreferences.txt file. Paste it into the new vXXY folder.
- Delete all content in the MigratePreferences.txt of the vXXY folder and save.
- Open Workbench. Files will be added automatically to the new folder.

Thanks for your suggestions. The issues persist for any project file I work on. Also, I tried your troubleshooting procedure and it didnt work. The ANSYS WBDump message pops up.
Any alternate ideas welcome!

Hello mhar,
I am sorry to hear that my last suggestion did not solve the issue. Please try the following common troubleshooting procedures:
1. Check your file path name for special characters.
It is recommended to avoid unusual special characters. For example, dashes "-" can be used, but degrees "°" and local language characters like "à" are not suggested.
2. Check the file path's length.
Take care for the length, as the full path should be shorter than 248 characters.
3. Reboot your machine.
If you haven't done so in a while, try rebooting your machine.
4. Check for overlapping processes.
If you are running the analysis on your local machine and are facing execution issues, make sure that the project directory is not frequently updated by some other process.
For example, working on project files on active cloud storage directories may interfere with the software. Try working on a local directory and store a copy on network storage when you finish your work.
5. Clear temporary Ansys files.
In Windows Explorer in the Address bar type: %temp%.
Rename the .ansys folder
Start a new Workbench session.
6. Update GPU drivers
Make sure that you have the latest graphics cards drivers. If that's not the case, update to the most recent ones.
7. Uninstalling and re-installing with admin rights.

Hello Tasos,
Thanks for your tips. Unfortunately, I had already tried these steps, but my issue remains unsolved. Perhaps, someone else might have a new suggestion to solve this error message.
Best regards,
