How can I define different initial conditions for different zones, please?

Hi, I want to simulate the evolution of air temperature in a room equipped with a floor heating system. For now, I am trying to set different initial value in Fluent to the air domain and floor domain, respectively. After initialization, I used the Patch to do that, but no matter how I try, their initial values always keep same. Do you have any idea about it, please? Any response is appreciated. Thank you.

The patch function is there to set cell zone values, not surface facets. The floor would be a boundary condition.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am sorry I didn't describe it clearly. In Fluent, I defined two domains: air domain and floor domain (the whole slab), and they are also included in the dialog box of Zones to Patch. They are the two zones I want to set different initial temperature values. I patched different values for them, however the Patch seemed not work here and the temperatures always keep same. For the boundary conditions, I defined the floor surface as a coupling surface.

I found the reason just now. I used the temperature of floor surface to estimate the temperature of the whole slab and checked if it's different with the temperature of air. But actually I am wrong, because the floor surface is a coupling surface, and floor surface is adjacent to the air domain, so it will be same with the air temperature. The floor surface shadow is adjacent to the floor domain, so I need use this one to check the temperature of floor domain. After correcting them, I found the patch works in fact.

No worries. It can take an iteration for the bounding walls to take the adjacent cell zone value, or the cell zone to react to the bounding wall.

Yes, it is. Thank you very much Rob.
