SubscriberHi:
I install the Ansys analysis tool, however, I faced some issue running the tool.
The error message shows as below:
“Unable to locate or start COM engine on 'Local Machine' : no response from COM engine, timed out”
Could you teach me how to fix this issue?
Thank you very much.

Ansys EmployeeAre you using VPN ?
Do you connect to your university network directly (LAN) or Wi-Fi ? LAN/Ethernet is recommended and make sure you don't have Wi-Fi on when connecting to LAN.
Lastly, please try temporarily turning off Firewall and anti-virus on the machine to see if this is the cause of the issue. If so, turn it back on but find a way to exclude ANSYS (HFSS) from being blocked.
Thanks,
Win

No, I use desktop and Ethernet.
And I turned off my anti-virus but it still shows the same issue.
Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeWhat about Windows Defender Firewall and Virus Protection ?
Also, from CMD Prompt, issue the following commands and post the screenshot of the output here
ping %computername% -4
ping localhost -4
Thanks,
Win

Ansys EmployeeWhen you turn it off, by default Windows runs Windows Defender (Firewall and Virus protection) , please check this.
The output of your CMD Prompt looks good. Also try the command
set
and post the output of this too.
Thanks,
Win

Ansys EmployeePlease confirm the status of these two: Windows Defender (Firewall and Virus protection)
Try reorder your Path environment variable so that these
C:windowssystem32;C:windows;C:windowsSystem32Wbem
are in front of other entries (values)
