SubscriberI am trying to do hexa dominant mesh for that i have splitted a body and used a shared topology option , but whenever i use shared topology instead of Contact it doesnt create the mesh. Multizone option does work when i keep hexa core as setting. What can be possible reason everytimes this happens. I feel the share topology option create some imprint on the geometry will that be Reason or something else?

Ansys EmployeeHello Bala,
What are the error messages generated by the solver? Here’s a simple geometry I tried to mesh without and with shared topology respectively:
Shared topology merges the pair(s) of common faces between bodies into a single set of common faces (2 faces become 1 face). The shared faces belong to both of the neighboring bodies. When meshing these types of multibody parts, the mesh at the interface will be conformal. When I hide the cylindrical bar, we can see how mesh transforms to match with other body nodes:
Here’s an Ansys help link, which will give more information on how shared topology works:

Nanda.

SubscriberThanks for the reply. here , in the first pic the hexa dominant mesh cretaed on both componnents but when you used shared toplogy it didnt make hexa mesh on one component, I want both compnent meshed in hexa that is happening in my case. I am getting some error like match face is not found etc.
Aslo why I am not able to accsess the conformal meshing link that you have shared.

Ansys EmployeeHello Bala,
For the same model, using shared topology, the solver by default generates tets. But when I force it to "Hex dominant", I face no issues here. Here are the screenshots:
Here's how you can access the Ansys Online Help from within the Ansys Student products:
- Open Ansys Workbench (or any other Ansys product) and go to Help > Ansys Workbench Help. A browser window will open.
- Copy the link to the Ansys Online Help from the post on the Ansys Learning Forum.
- Paste the link into the address bar of the browser window opened in step 1, and you'll be able to access the desired page.
