Help Finding Contact Pressure of a Named Selection

      Hello!

I'm currently working on an analysis of a Hirth joint, and am wanting to evaluate the contact pressure at the Hirth teeth. I've assigned 2 separate frictionless contacts, as the teeth undergo different stress levels depending on the direction of applied torque. This allows me to get average contact stress values for a high side and low side of the teeth, but I'm seeing some unwanted stress concentrations at the edges (as expected). I do not want these included in my results. As such, I’ve created named nodal selections to exclude these singularities, but I'm unsure how to generate a contact pressure result.

I can re-run with contacts defined by the named selections, but I'm afraid it will just move the stress concentrations inward as I'm essentially just redefining the edge, right? If this understanding is wrong, please let me know.

Any insight on how to generate these contact pressures without including the edge nodes would be greatly appreciated. Below are some images for reference:

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide. I'm definitely a novice with Ansys, so any tips are greatly appreciated.

      Thank you,

      Zach

      Hi,

you can use APDL commands to view the results of contact pressure of selected nodes.

      Refer to the forum post:

See the help manual for more info and to go through in detail the free APDL course :

      Thanks,
